Mathletes Have it Hard, But...

Posted on February 16, 2010 at 8:27pm 4 Comments

...don't their schools at least feign interest in how they fare?

My high school hosts Academic Challenge, a regional version of High-Q that is, in all honesty, my entire life. It boasts some of the smartest kids my school has to offer, including my best friend Jessa. So far, we've placed either SECOND or THIRD in the GWOC league. This is a personal record for our team. We've been doing extremely well this season. But?

Not a peep. Our local paper has never once…

Honors Kids-World's Biggest Misnomer

Posted on September 30, 2009 at 8:24pm 3 Comments

My classmates. They are life's true enigma to me. After all, if I am the "cream of the crop", as the teachers say, then why am I treated like shoe crud? Out of all my honors classes (I'm in 4, and it's my sophomore year), I noticed that I seem to be treated like a "handle with care package". I have some of the highest grades and best test scores in the classes, nay, the school, and yet I am still widely disregarded and ignored. Why am I and the few nerdy kids in my classes treated… Continue

The Internet Isn't All Bad

To me, it seems that the true beauty of the internet is underappreciated. My mother has barely ever used it, stating that she believes it destroys the intelligence of the user. My father only uses it to try and create more conspiracy theories and on the eternal hunt for the perfect job. My sister is a frequent surfer of the sites that little kids tend to visit. Y'know, My Little Pony, Care Bears, Webkinz, and the like. But overall, ask any older person, and what will they tell you? A good deal… Continue

Well, I've finally found a place for my thoughts. I already have a physics blog, and now I've got one especially for my random geekiness. Oh joy!

For those of you who don't know me, I am the geekiest female in my tricounty area. I am currently a freshman in high school, taking all honors classes, with an A+ current average (darn you, world history!). I am interested in physics, and I want to be a quantum mechanist when I become of age. I am currently college shopping and reading… Continue

:) Astrophysics and Kinematics are for me. I LOVE space so Astrophysics is probably my favourite. I haven't had any education in Astrophysics in particular (still in High School grade 10) but I would like to get into it when I'm done.
