Toulouse - French Best Travel Secret!

Why do we all imagine Paris when we think of France? Now the most ancient French cities become desired destinations! One of France's best kept secrets is the city of Toulouse.Located in the southwestern part of the country not far from the Spanish border, Toulouse is an ancient city known for the University of Toulouse, one of the oldest in Europe, as well as for being the headquarters of Airbus and the European aerospace industry.Toulouse is one of the easiest French cities to get around in, as rental cars are readily available from Toulouse Airport. If you're planning a trip to France, here are some of the most well-known and interesting sights you can find around Toulouse. 1. The Church of the Jacobins – real example of Gothic architecture. This ancient cathedral is best known as the burial place of Saint Thomas Aquinas. It has been remarkably well-preserved over the centuries and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. 2. Basilica of St. Sernin - functioning amazing architectural monument!A massive church that began construction in the 4th century and was not completed for hundreds of years, the Basilica is the largest Romanesque church in Europe, a must-visit for fans of medieval architecture and history. 3. Cité de l'espace - incredible amusement park! One of Toulouse's newest tourist attractions, the City of Space is an astronomy-themed amusement park appropriate for all ages. It features full-scale models of numerous spacecraft throughout history, from the Ariane 5 to the Mir space station, a planetarium, an IMAX theater, and many other exhibits that both adults and children will love. 4. Place du Capitole – the heart of Toulouse! The center of regional government in Toulouse, the Place du Capitole began construction in 1190 and retains many architectural aspects from both that period and its re-designs in later centuries. 5. Jardin Japonais – the garden of Japanese miracle! As the name suggests, the Jardin Japonais is a Japanese-style garden near the center of Toulouse. It's a quiet, nice place to relax after traveling throughout the busy city. 6. Canal du Midi – the of two seas. One of the oldest canals in Europe, the Canal du Midi links Toulouse to the Mediterranean Sea, providing ships quick passage between that body of water and the Atlantic. It is considered one of the most ambitious and greatest construction works of the late Renaissance period and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 7. Fondation Bemberg - touch the Art!The Fondation Bemberg is Toulouse's premier art museum, exhibiting a large collection of artwork from over the centuries. It is located in the Hôtel d'Assézat, an enormous Renaissance-era palace. 8. Les Abattoirs – impression modern exhibition! The perfect counterpart to the Fondation Bemberg, Les Abattoirs is an art museum focusing on modern and contemporary works. 9. Animaparc – wonderful friendly family park! One of France's most popular theme parks, Animaparc is an ideal destination for families. It features a wide variety of innovative rides as well as a large petting zoo. 10. Carcassonne - unique medieval city!A brief drive from Toulouse proper, Carcassonne is a fortified settlement dating back to the fifth century, founded by the Visigoths. As a result, it features unique architecture not found anywhere else in France. Like the Canal du Midi and the Church of the Jacobins, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As you can see, there are numerous sights to visit in Toulouse. Renting a car from Toulouse Airport is all you need to do to experience one of France's most interesting cities in its full glory. Whether you're an art buff, interested in science, or you have young children, Toulouse has something to offer you.See More

GEEK CULTURE

: An Annotated Interdisciplinary Bibliography:

In recent years, there have been numerous studies on science fiction fans, role-playing games, comic book fans, and the culture of those strongly interested in computers. When a study profiles a group engaged in one of these activities, it is not unusual for the group's participation in the other activities to be mentioned as well. In popular culture (as opposed to studies of popular culture), this overlap… Continue
